A little flower

This time I wanted to try out some macro stuff using my macro filters I bought. It does have some vignetting due to the macro filters. So I went in the front yard and found this little guy. It is smaller than the size of a dime when completely opened but in the evening and night they close up like the way it is shown here. I focused and moved the flower off center to make it a little more creative and blurred the background. I also have started to reset my camera and format the card each day so that I have to set things up again. This time I forogt to change the White Balance and shoot raw and jpeg.

Day 3

No time today. I got up at 5:30 am and didn't get home until 9pm so I am posting something that I have done previously. This is a flower shot. I like shooting flowers and try to get the out of focus backgrounds or Bokeh as it is called. I was happy with this shot.

Today I was a little pressed for time. That will be a common theme with work and school both going on in my life right now. I wanted to get a picture that was lines to show some persepctive and depth of field. So I worked with a bamboo fence we have attached to our chain link fence and got this.

Alcor and Mizar plus others

Last night we had very clear skies here in Wahiawa and I was able to see the two stars Alcor and Mizar in Ursa Major. It is in the Big Dippers handle and I was able to see it with my 25mm Lens on my Orion XT 4.5. Very Cool indeed. I was also able to see the Orion Nebula in the Orion constellation. This one is a favorite. Again it was with my 25mm lens. I also saw the moons of Jupiter, checked out our moon, Venus and saw the rings on Saturn later in the evening. One thing I will definitely need in the future is more lenses and some filters. The moon was pretty bright and hard to look at so I need an ND Filter. My biggest issue is,a s with most, light pollution. I was in my driveway and the streetlights blocked off quite a bit.

Welcome

Aloha,
I decided to try a new experiment with my Nikon D90 and see if I could get my creativity and imagination moving forward photographically. I looked at a few websites and one recommended the 365 Creativtiy exercise. Basically you take a picture everyday and try to work with different lenses and settings to be more creative. So, I am going to take a picture everyday starting soon and post them here with some information about them. I welcome feedback.
Mahalo,
Edward
